Filament & Inventory
If damp filament is suspected, the best way to tell is to listen to the Filament printing; it makes a popping or hissing noise, that will be the water evaporating out of the filament
Best quality filament brands:
- Polyterra/Polymaker
- Overture
- Eryone
- Ziro
- Bambu
- Geetech
Sunlu and eSun are also fairly good, though I've had some of theirs quoted as the same colour but slightly off; therefore, changing a roll in the middle of printing has ruined the print because of the very noticeable difference.
Inventory
To keep track of your inventory of 3D-printer filament spools, I recommend using Spoolman: https://github.com/Donkie/Spoolman
It has a lot of filament brands already built in to easily populate information on your spools. Total and used weights can also be recorded, additionally with QR code asset tags for physical asset stickers.
Spoolman also has a REST API which can be used with OctoEverywhere : https://octoeverywhere.com/ - If your printer is setup with OctoEverywhere, the API can be used to dynamically update the weight used in the asset.
